Should I ask her out now or no?

Ok, well I have this female friend named Carly. We do like everything together. Like literally almost every day we do homework together, she is so smart and has the best advice. We play basketball ( my hobby ) together ( just like shoot around ) even though she doesn't like it, and we watch movies, go swimming, hanging, etc..You get the point. And plus, she has like the best smile and she is soo pretty. But some nacho head idiot asked her to the prom and she said yes to him. I was suppose to ask her, then later ask her out to be my gf. I talked about it to her and she said she would "like to meet new people'. She said that I am still her best overall friend. UNBELIEVABLE. For those that have seen the show ZOEY 101, it is kind of I am Chase and she is Zoey. Can someone please give me advice or help!!!! Thanks!!!
