Wii remote acting dead?

So today I got a new game (tomb raider: Underworld) for my wii. I had played another game a few hours ago for about 45 minutes. And when I got to the part where you first start actually shooting people my wii remote would act like it was dying and start blinking, my person would continue to shoot, then it said that I needed to connect my remote to the wii. I thought it was dying so I pressed the home on to check my battery level, and it said it was fully charged, which I knew was not true. So I then switched over to my other remote that was charged, and it did the same thing. I then put in another game and the remote acted normal. Any ideas on what might be the problem or how to fix it? Thanks
